Hi, I'm Luke.

I'm a Web Developer based in South Wales, UK.

Websites need to look good, but they also need to work too! I like clean, minimal, functional designs that get results. I prefer to take a mobile-first approach so that sites looks as good as possible on all devices.

My background is in the creative media industries, including music and video production, and I believe my previous experience provides me with a unique perspective when designing for the web.

My core knowledge is in front-end development using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, with additional experience implementing a range of technologies:

I have experience utilising JavaScript libraries such as jQuery, and CSS/JS frameworks including Boostrap 3 & 4. In addition to front-end, I have experience in full-stack JavaScript development, applying Node.js, Express and MongoDB to build web apps via the Command Line.

I've used WordPress extensively as a CMS in various roles and have experience with PHP for creating dynamic custom WordPress themes (like this one) and contact forms. I also have knowledge of server-side databases using phpMyAdmin and MySQL.

Core Skills

I've worked in a range of professional environments over the last 10 years, from creative studios and agencies, to firms and educational institutes. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that clear, regular communication is paramount.

Having worked in marketing and as a supplier, I understand both sides of the client relationship, and what it takes to manage a project effectively. To that end, I'm equally comfortable whether I'm discussing ideas with a team, presenting to clients, or coding away.

I'm always seeking opportunities to improve my workflow with productivity apps such as ToDoist, Evernote and Trello, and I love implementing technology to improve team communication and project management, including Google Work, Microsoft Office, Slack, Asana, Basecamp and more.
